SMÖRGÅSBORD ORIGINAL MEATBALLS BOURGUIGNONE

Ingredients

For the meatballs
• 1 × 400g pack of Smörgåsbord Original Swedish meatballs
• 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
• 3 tbsp sunflower oil

For the sauce
• 100g pancetta, blanched in hot water for 2 minutes
• 2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
• 1 small carrot, peeled and diced
• 1 bottle of good red wine
• 1 small bag finishing beef stock

To finish
• 75g pickled onion, rinsed
• 100g button chestnut mushrooms
• 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Method

  • Heat sunflower oil in a large sauté pan. Add the meatballs and brown evenly. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add pancetta, onion, and carrot. Cook gently until soft.
  • Pour in red wine and simmer until reduced by half. Add beef stock and return the meatballs.
  • Simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add pickled onions, mushrooms, and parsley. Stir gently and serve.
