Spring into Action:
Smorgasbord Kitchen
Organisation and Meatball
Storage Tips

Spring cleaning can be daunting, but it’s also a great opportunity to organise your kitchen and make room for your favourite Smorgasbord meatballs. Here are some tips on how to clean and organise your kitchen, as well as how to properly store your meatballs in the fridge or freezer.
1. Declutter: Begin by taking everything out of your cupboards, drawers, and pantry. Sort items into categories, such as utensils, cookware, and food items. Donate or dispose of items you no longer need or use.
2. Deep clean: With everything removed, thoroughly clean your cupboards, drawers, and pantry shelves. Wipe down surfaces with a mixture of warm water and mild soap, and clean any sticky or greasy spots with a degreaser
3. Organise your space: Organise your kitchen items based on how frequently they are used. Place everyday items within easy reach, while storing less frequently used items in higher or more remote cupboards.
4. Use clear storage containers: Use clear storage containers for dry goods like pasta, rice, and flour. This makes it easy to see what you have and helps maintain freshness
5. Rotate food items: When restocking your pantry, place older items in the front and newer items in the back. This helps ensure that older items get used before they expire.
6. Organise your fridge: Place items that need to be consumed first at eye level to encourage their use. Keep produce in designated drawers to maintain freshness, and separate raw meats from other items to prevent cross-contamination.
7. Clean your fridge: Remove all items from your refrigerator and wipe down the shelves and drawers with a mild cleaner. Check expiration dates and dispose of any expired food.
8. Store meatballs properly: Keep frozen. Do not refreeze once fully defrosted. Consume within 12 hours of opening if defrosted and store chilled in fridge. Consume before use by date when frozen
9. Label your containers: Label your storage containers with contents and expiration dates. This makes it easier to find
items and keep track of their freshness.
10. Maintain your kitchen: Set a routine for regular cleaning and organising to keep your kitchen in top shape. This will make future spring cleaning sessions less overwhelming.
By following these tips, your kitchen will be clean, organised, and ready for you to enjoy your favourite Smorgasbord meatballs!
